Hair Loss: There are many things you can do to slow or even stop hair loss. But what to do depends on the reason why you are losing your hair. However, some situations like a loss after pregnancy, might resolve on their own, and also remember that everyone sheds hair regularly, which is normal.
Causes of Hair Loss
Nutritional Deficiencies
It can be possible that vital nutrients might be missing from your diets such as iron, copper, zinc, and proteins. The deficiency of vitamin D is another cause of hair fall. Make sure to get out and soak up some sun to avoid this.
Hairstyle Products
This is another reason for Hair Loss, due to the toxic chemicals found in dyes and styling products. Similarly, almost all shampoo has Sodium Lauryl sulfate which has a toxic effect on your immune system and has proven to corrode hair follicles and slow hair growth. It is advisable and better to stick to natural shampoos and dyes.
Stress
Too much stress can also cause hair loss which could last for several months. Reducing stress through exercise, mediation yoga, and massages will reduce your chances of experiencing hair fall.
Birth Control Pills
This can also cause hair loss, because the hormones in the pill that suppress ovulation can cause hair to thin, most especially in women with a family history of hair loss. Sometimes hair loss can happen when you stop taking the pill. Other drugs associated with hair loss are loss thinners and medicines that treat high blood pressure, depression, and also heart disease.
Hormonal Imbalance
After the age of 30, women can experience hormonal imbalance which can cause hair fall. This is usually caused by excess dihydrotestosterone conversion.
Tips For Controlling Hair Loss
Shampoo: It is very important to understand your scalp types and select the right shampoo. Also, you need to wash your hair depending upon your scalp. For example, over washing hair with a dry scalp can lead to hair fall, or not washing oily locks thrice a week can also lead to the same. So make sure the shampoo is not loaded with chemicals including sulfate paraben and silicone that can make your tresses brittle and then lead to breakage.
Conditioner
A good conditioner can work well for your locks. It contains amino acids that help to repair damaged hair, and also helps to keep them very smooth.
Diet and Exercise
You need to feed your hair all the right nutrients most especially plenty of protein and iron. Along with eating a balanced diet ensure you are exercising side by side. Meditation and Yoga are very effective in reducing hair fall.
Chemical Treatments
Undergoing rigorous hair treatments like perming and coloring are definitely not kind to your tresses. However, avoid using blow dryers, curling rods most especially on wet hair as they actually boil the water in your hair shaft and make them brittle.
Oiling
Oiling improves blood circulation and nourishes the roots. But make sure to massage your tresses once a week with oil that is perfect for your hair scalp. Cover it with a shower cap and wash it off with a light shampoo after about two hours.
